DAVID DAUNCEY

I paint abstracts which begin with a layer of texture, and my interest in surface is tied to photographs that I have taken on my travels, or other interesting surfaces that I come across. I seek to build layers of organic 'paint-noise' which I then use as a paradigm within which to start solving the 'problems' that then occur as the artwork forms.I react and react again, and wait for the artwork to reveal itself to me. Sometimes forceful editing takes place, a necessary component in my creative process, to get to the penultimate steps where-in I may feel uncomfortable or misguided, but this is my favorite part of creation, where new ground is covered and resolution is seen to be close at hand.
